Owen's notes: George and John Hewes local oyster and fishermen. Owners of the smack PRIMROSE. George lived in cottage next to Folley at top of The Lane. John lived in cottage next to Gowens sailmakers. In this cottage in his later years, John ran a tobacco and sweet shop. He was my great grandfather and Alice Hewes my grandmother. George and John were known to the locals as the 'Bunny Boys'. They were both regular attenders at the 'Top Chapel' and were members of the 'Brotherhood'.
Benjamin Hewes illustrated was the father of John and my great great grandfather.
