The Liberty Ship SAMLONG in the River Blackwater, taken from Mell Creek, Tollesbury. Part of a postcard - see CG12_303
3 Aug 1944 Badly damaged off Juno Beach, Normandy. Towed to the Thames and then the River Blackwater. She was remembered locally because her engineroom was full of water. Jan 1949 scrapped in Holland.
Built 1943, Official No. 169689.
