In the name of God Amen the thirteenth day of June in the yeare of our Lord
God one thousand six hundred eighty & eight & in the fourth yeare of the
reigne of our soverigne Lord James the second of england scotland france & ireland
Kinge defender of the Faith etc I Josias Enew of messing in the County of Essex
weaver being sick in body but of perfect memory & understanding thanks be to God doe make
& ordaine this my last will & testament in manner & forme following first I give my
soule unto the Almightie God from whence I received itt & my body to the earth whence
itt was taken to be decently buried by my executrix hereafter named as touching such
worldly goods wherewith itt hath pleased god to bless me withall in this life I give &
bequeath in manner & forme following first I give to Rachell Ennew my beloved
wife all that messuag or tenement wherin I now dwell called the Rose and Crowne
with the Brew house Barnes stables & all other Ap(pur)tenantes yards & easements whatsoever there
unto belonging scitutated lying & being in Messing aforesayed To have & to hold the messuag
aforesayde with the appurtenances belonging thereunto with the rents & profitts of the same
during her naturall life & after the decease of Rachell Ennew my wife I doe give &
bequeath the sayde messu[a]ge called the Rose & Crowne to my sonne William Ennew during his
natural life and after his decease to Josias Ennew my grandson sonn of the sayd William
Ennew & to his heires for ever/ Item I give to Rachell Ennew my beloved wife all that
Coppyhold messuge or tenement called Hopes holden of the manor of Bouchers hall
situated in Messing aforesayde late in the occupation of John Bridg to have & to hold the
sayde messuage or tenement with itts rents & proffits with all Appertenances thereunto belonging
to her the sayed Rachell Ennew for the whole term of her naturall life & after her
decease I give & bequeath the sayed messuage or tenement called Hopes with all the
appurtenances thereto belonging unto Mary Ennew my grandaughter
& to her heires for ever
Item I give & bequeath to Rachell Ennew my beloved wife all my free hold estate
lying in Bury St Edmond in the County of Southfolk (Suffolk) that is to say two messuages or
tenement situated & being near Risby gate in Bury St. Edmond aforesayed & now in the tenure
& occupation of Mary Godfrey & an other messuage or tenement situated in Bury St. Edmond
aforesayde in astreet of the same called Long Brackland & now in the occupation of Edward Vin[cent]
a Taylor all which the afore sayde messuages or tenements with all the appurtenances belonging
to them or either of them to her the sayde Rachell Ennew to have & to hold with all the rents
& profitts for the whole terme of her naturall life & after her decease I doe give & bequeath the
three aforesayde tenements lying in Bury St. Edmond aforesayd to my two sonnes Josias Ennew
& John Ennew & to them & their heires for ever & the sayde estate to be sold & the money
equally divided betwixt them both Item I give to Josias Ennew my sonn one feather bed with
bedstead & furniture as itt stands & one paire of coal racks after the decease of Rachell Ennew
my wife .Item I give to John Ennew my sonn one feather bed with
bedsted & furniture as itt
stands after the decease of Rachell my wife & I doe nominate & appointe ordain & declare
Rachell Ennew my well beloved wife to be sole executrix of this my last will & testament
