TitleThe Nothe and views of West Mersea 1945-1954
AbstractSusan Luckham photograph album.
1930-1945 the Nothe belonged to Susan's grandparents W. Trego Webb and Isabel Webb. They had all of the cottage except the very southern end.
The family suffered in the big flood of 1953 and then moved from the Nothe to Hillworth in Mersea Avenue - a few photographs of Hillworth are included at the end of the album.

William and Isabel normally lived in Kensington, but had the Nothe for many years. William Trego died at The Nothe on 8 Jan 1934 leaving £30,724 15s. His wife, Isabel Mary died in Kensington in 1952. The album caption says The Nothe in ? 1890 or long ago!. The words round the picture say All this was ours & one other cottage here [at the right hand end]. The separate cottage at the left end must have been replaced by the Big Room shown in later photographs. LUC_AB1_006

Nothe Cottage, West Mersea. The figures over the fireplace on the right had come with Susan's parents from Finchley. When the family moved from the Nothe in 1954, the figures were given to West Mersea Parish Church. Susan Luckham wrote the following for the Church Magazine in 2005. </p> <p><b>'The Annunciation' on the South Wall</b> by Susan Luckham The Annunciation on the South wall of the Parish Church had belonged to my Father, Dr. C.
