Mr Ingram's Mersea Gift brings joy to the slus.
A charming idea will be realised on June 20, when Lady Emmott will open a free playground for children on Mersea Island in Essex, christening it Kiddlesland.

It originated in the warm heart of a chartered accountant, Mr F.J.C. Ingram, when he watched a crowd of poor children playing games on the beach at Southend 15 years ago. He resolved there and then that if ever he could afford to do so he would buy a piece of land and give children a playground all their own.

Mr Ingram, who lives at Potters Bar, started to build houses in the north of London, and set aside a share of his profits each year for his cherished scheme. Last year he set to work. He bought 250 acres of Mersea Island, planted it with 7,000 trees, provided pools for bathing and padling, built a dining hall, and set up swings and roundabouts...
