 The earliest photograph lent for the 2009 Marriage Display was of the marriage in 1903 of Arthur Moore Lord (Ralph Lord's grandfather) and Ellen Isabel Pates. The marriage took place in Yorkshire, but the Lords are an Essex farming family who came to live in East Mersea. What wonderful creations the ladies' hats are. The earliest photograph lent for the 2009 Marriage Display was of the marriage in 1903 of Arthur Moore Lord (Ralph Lord's grandfather) and Ellen Isabel Pates. The marriage took place in Yorkshire, but the Lords are an Essex farming family who came to live in East Mersea. What wonderful creations the ladies' hats are. If this picture had been in colour we would have been able to appreciate the colourful army uniforms of the time.
Arthur Moore was in York & Lancaster Regiment.
