George Rutherford and Jackie Wells. An obvious reference to Councillor Charles Prigg and his obsession with the mosquito menace on the Island.
Cllr Charles Prigg had suggested spraying the boating lake to control the gnat problem. The fuselage is an old aircraft fuel tank used for long distance flights and jettisoned when empty. This float was on Rutherford's pale blue pickup truck used by builders Vince & Farthing. Rutherford was involved in the firm [Ron Green].

The float was in the 1948 Regatta carnival procession - see DM2_AB10_122_009 .
From Album 8.
