At a General Meeting of the Dredgermen of West Wersea, and their Friends of that parish, held in the National School-room, West Mersea, on September 21st, 1894, it was unanimously resolved to present an ADDRESS, with a GOLD OYSTER, as a token of their esteem and gratitude for the arduous and successful efforts made by you in sercuring the passing of the SHELL FISH ACT, 1894, which prohibits the removal of Culch from any Public Oyster Grounds, whereby the Common Grounds of the Blackwater, the Colne and the Crouch Rivers were preserved to the Public in perpetuity.
