This attractive photograph shows the open area in front of the "mount" (right) which was used for sledging in winter. The pond behind the fencing provided osiers for baskets. Harriet Leavett owned the grocer's shop. The present trees on the opposite side of the road were planted in 1935 for George V's Silver Jubilee.
