Dorothy Davison wrote to say her great grandfather James Edwin Joyce was a Coastguard at Tollesbury. He was in the navy and then started work in Tollesbury 1880 as a naval coastguard. Dorothy's grandmother Elizabeth Welsh Joyce was born Tollesbury in 1881 and her brothers Thomas 1884, Charles Joyce 1885. James was later posted to Harwich and Clacton. He had a total of 10 children.
