A brewery run by Stone and Sons was established towards the end of the 19th century.

Messrs Stone's brewery in the Chase made weekly deliveries of locally brewed beer, as also did other public houses, but under the DORA Act of 1915, deliveries had to be signed for by the recipient and this restricted sales. [Tollesbury to the Year 2000]

F.G. Stone was sold in 1950 to Tollemache & Cobbold Breweries with two licensed houses. I assume the brothers were sons of Frederick George Stone the founder. The beer had a big following locally and a substantial free trade [Robert Tichener-Barrett].
