Turkeys for sale at Hearsum's fish shop in Crouch Street, Colchester. Thought to be a pre-WW2 photograph - Leslie Boddington worked there.
There is a 2008 view of the shop at www.flickr.com/photos/anachrocomputer/2428100345/in/photostream which says "My grandfather's fish shop, at 41 Crouch Street, Colchester. His name was George Justin Hearsum, and he was a fishmonger here for many years. I remember the shop fitted with a large sloping marble slab, covered in fresh fish and ice. Note the ornate upper storey with the sculpted fish either side of an urn."
George Justin Hearsum, and his two sons Robert and Hugh, were all West Mersea residents.
Date: Before 1940
