Royal Observer Corp marching in the parade during Wings for Victory Week. Herbert Marrow is in the centre of the picture, in the centre of the leading row.
6" x 8" photograph from F.W. Straw, 9, St John's St., Colchester.
Notes from Ron Green
The parade is being led by Freddie French with Herbert Marrow in middle of the first row. To his right I believe is Vic Mussett and behind Freddie is Sid Stoker. In the next row between Herbert and Sid is Bob Hearsum and the dapper man looking into Bob's left ear is Jim Roff. The 'special' police sgt is Edward Dawson who lived in Brierley Avenue and the tall policeman could be Sgt Albert Wood (Usually known as Sgt Woods) although I can see no stripes. Others I think I reconize - in the centre of the picture, the tall lady wearing a hair band could be David Green's mum Marjorie and over Bob Hearsum's beret looks like Kenny Gowen. The man behind the other special constable wearing a trilby and a little moustache is butcher Arthur Cock.
