 Mersea Museum 2002 display.

Terracotta heads found in 2001 by Allan Bird and Peter Vince while oyster dredging on the Nass. In the early 1930s these busts were mounted on pillars in the grounds of Orleans. The were stolen by a young Mersea fisherman, but when a rumpus followed, he seems to have dumped them in the River. There they rested until dredged up almost 70 years later.
