Fire siren used on Mersea and loaned by Jonathan Mussett of West Mersea Fire Brigade. In later years it was sited behind the Fire Station in Melrose Road and then behind the new Barfield Road Fire Station. It is thought that earlier it was behind the telephone exchange in Yorick Road, on top of the water tower, at Woodstock in St Peters Road when that was the Air Raid Precautions Headquarters, ...
