Holidays - Mersea enjoyed wonderful days of sunshine over the holidays, and although many of its activities were restricted, this did not detract the children from their bathing, paddling, etc., which they were able to enjoy to the full at The Hard, which is now a very popular rendezvous for them, and for many grown-ups too. Many boats were dotted about, sailing and rowing was available, and bathing was extremely popular with old and young. Several bus loads of visitors arrived, unaware that the beach was not available, and returned by the next bus, but others, who knew Mersea better, also found their way down the coast, and to the picturesque part of Mersea, which is so often overlooked by the casual or infrequent visitor.
