Fanny Sarah Janet Burne née Burton. Known as Janet, she was the daughter of Alfred Burton and his second wife Eleanor Gardner. Janet married Edward Burne on 24 Sep 1868 at Little Wigborough.
Fanny wrote and illustrated books and was much loved by Lavender (Burne) as she was often sent to stay with her by her mother (Mary Burne) when another sibling was born. [Lavender Jones].
Lavender Jones says of Edward Burne "Edward Burne was according to my mother (Lavender Jones, née Burne), a big man with white hair, she would have been six when he died in 1907. His occupation was a wine merchant. He was born at Goring, West Sussex, where his father, a corn merchant, farmed the glebe land before going to Portsmouth harbour to mill grain for the Napoleonic war. "
