Plaque in Great Wigborough Church.
The paved path to the church door was donated in memory of Sir Leonard and Lady Joan Crossland who were great benefactors to this church. November 2001.

Sir Leonard Crossland was an automobile executive who filled a succession of increasingly high level appointments with Ford of Britain, culminating with the chairmanship which he held between 1968 and 1972. He was appointed Managing Director of Fords in 1967 and a year later was elected Chairman. He owned Abbotts Hall Farm, Great Wigborough, and in 1970, considerably restored Abbotts Hall, a Grade II listed building from pre-Conquest times. It, and the estate, is now the home of the Essex Wildlife Trust. He died 5 August 1999 at the age of 85 and he and his wife are commemorated in St Stephens, Great Wigborough. [Elaine Barker]
