Search for Image ID "" Part of the bomb map of Mersea Island showing the string of High Explosive [marked in Blue] bombs dropped from near the Water Tower down Mersea Avenue, with the last one in the middle of St Peters Road. The front of a semi-detached house in Mersea Avenue was sucked out by one of the bombs - "Laburnhams" (later No. 11) belonging to Ernie Woolf and "Alafin" (No. 13) belonging to Percy Mussett. The house has a plaque on the front gable saying "Built 1927 Reconstructed 1946". The bombs were dropped late morning on 21st.
