Ron Green says: "This is before 1946 and probably around 1939 - the concrete road is in place. There were two houses being built and I was working on them when we had a very cold winter in the beginning of 1947. [ Two houses to the south of the existing one, built for Mr Davies and Mr Robey. ] We had to stop work and were found other jobs - i.e. breaking up the houseboat ERYCINA etc.
The one house on the east side of Broomhills was owned by Mr Gray. He had cleared land on the opposite side of the road, and had a summer house there that was on a swivel, so it could be turned to face the sun.[just visible in the photograph.]"
