Search for Image ID "" The Bacon family were living at Laurel Villas, 12 Captains Road, in 1939. Wilf Bacon walking across the road to the allotment, with his mother Daphne watching him. The road was unmade and hardly a car went past.
Miriam Bacon says "My parents lived in Laurel Villas from when they married in 1931, until they moved to High Street North, in a ground floor flat to be near my brother and wife. So they were there for over 50 years. When I was a child my friend and I used to tie the skipping rope to the white fence that was there in those days. One of us turned the rope while the other skipped. The road was not made up so hardly any traffic around.
