From the entrance to Mersea Court in High Street North.

Mersea Court was erected in 1980 and opened on 7th December 1980 by the Lord Lieutenant of Essex, Admiral Sir Andrew Lewis, KCB, JP.
The land was originally given by Revd. Charles Pierrepont Edwards, MC to provide accommodation for a District Nurse and two residents. For this purpose a generous give was made by Bernard Mason Esq. in memory of his mother Mrs E.N. Mason. The remainder of the funds has been raised by public subscription for the benefit of the elderly and the infirm of Mersea Island, with the help of the Local Authorities in Mersea and Colchester and a substantial Government grant.
