Lavender Jones says of Edward Burne "Edward Burne was according to my mother (Lavender Jones, née Burne), a big man with white hair, she would have been six when he died in 1907. His occupation was a wine merchant. He was born at Goring, West Sussex, where his father, a corn merchant, farmed the glebe land before going to Portsmouth harbour to mill grain for the Napoleonic war. "
