... it was discovered that Mr R. Key's shop (tobacconists and hairdressers) had caught fire. Being a wooden building, the fire spread rapidly. Mr R. Page, postmaster, immediately telephoned to Fireman A. Mills, also to Sergeant Dawson.

... Mr Key's shop had burnt completely out and the adjoining property, a shop belonging to Messrs. Wash had also caught fire and was burning rapidly.
