The remains are in the lower half of the picture, with two walls pointing to the south. The point is now covered by the beach. The third wall, which would have been across the centre of the picture, is thought to have been destroyed when the sea wall was built.

The remains are in the lower half of the picture, with two walls pointing to the south. The point is now covered by the beach. The fort was built around 1547 and not used after 1667.
This is the eastern end of Mersea Island - Pyefleet Channel curves round across the top and on the right, the River Colne heads up to Colchester.
The picture was taken by a camera suspended from a kite - the line can be seen going down the picture to two people on the beach. Thanks for www.kandos.co.uk for letting us use this picture.
