Thought to be VANGUARD, a big collier ketch owned by J Smith, Burnham.John Smith was a coal merchant at Burnham who owned barges to ship is coal. 

Lost in 1916. In additional notes to 'The Big Barges' book, Bob Childs adds Sunk by a bomb placed on board by a U boat 16/11/1916 north west of Cape Antifer. 1911 census gives captain as H . Stevens. [Ron Green]
