2 of 28 Barge LADY GWYNFRED of Rochester ashore in a gale at Brightlingsea. Douglas Went postcard. Brightlingsea Promenade. Postcard mailed 26 March 1938. A similar picture appears in East Coast Sail by Robert Simper. The caption says 2 barges were driven ashore in the gale (the second can be seen in the distance). LADY GWYNFRED was washed into municipal swimming baths near Bateman's Tower. The next tide was just as high and she sailed out again.
