AbstractDocument in the deeds of Sleyes, Peldon. It is dated 5 June 1635 and confirms that John Lawrence [Junior] has made an agreement to transfer the property to John Anger [his son-in-law].
In this document, entitled Feoffment, mention is made of the rents and services due to the Lord of The Manor of this copyhold cottage.

The property, part of an estate known as Sleyes, was formerly owned by his father John Lawrence [Senior] and left to his two daughters, Dorkis and Mary Lawrence. Following his sisters' deaths John Lawrence [Junior] is now the lawful heir.

1. To all Christian people to whome this p[re]sent wrightinge shall Come John Lawrence of Peldon in the Countye of
2. Essex husbondman sendeth greetinge in our Lord God everlastinge knowe yee That I The said John Lawrence as well in
3. Considerac[i]on of a marriadge already had and solempnised betweene John Anger of Peldon aforesaid husbondman and Anne now the
4. wiffe of the said John Anger and daughter of the said John Lawrence, as for divers other good Cawses and lawfull Considerac[i]ons me
5. thereunto especially movinge have given/ graunted enfeoffed deliv[er]ed and Confirmed and by theis p[rese]ntes doe for and from me & myne heires
6. freely Clerely and absolutely give graunt enfeoffe delyver and Confirme unto the said John Anger and his heires forever One Tenement
7. W[i]th an orchard thereunto belonginge and thone half of the pond thereunto adioyninge situate lyeinge and beinge in/ Peldon aforesaid as the
8. same p[re]misses now are sev[er]ed enclosed and devided, and now beinge in the tenure and occupac[i]on of one John Miller and of his assignee or
9. Assignes, w[hi]ch said Tenement orchard and thone half of the pond now thereunto belonginge late were p[ar]te p[ar]cell and member of a Certeyne
10. Messuage or Tenement Com[m]only Called or knowne by the name of Sleyes situate lyinge and beinge in Peldon aforesaid. And w[hi]chsaid
11. p[re]mises before given and graunted late were of John Lawrence of Peldon aforesaid Tayler my late Father deceased, And w[hi]ch said
12. given and graunted p[re]misses the said John Lawrence deceased by his last will and testament made and declared in wrightinge did give &
13. bequeath unto Dorkis Lawrence and Mary Lawrence his two daughters and to their heires forever, As in and by the same will and
14. testament bearinge date the vjth day of October in the tenthe yere of the Raigne of our late sov[er]aigne Lord Kinge James of famous
15. memory and in the yere of our Lord God, 1612, moore playnely appeareth And w[hi]ch said p[re]misses above mentioned or intended to bee
16. hereby given and graunted did by and after the death or decease of the said Dorkis Lawrence and Mary Lawrence my late
17. sisters deceased discend unto me the said John Lawrence as brother and next heire of them the said Dorkis and Mary by
18. right of inheritance. To have and to houlde the said Tenement orchard and thone half of the pond thereunto
19. adioyninge hereby given and graunted or mentioned ment or intended to be given and graunted w[i]th all and singuler thapp[ur]ten[au]nc[es]
20. unto the said John Anger his heires and assignes To thonly prop[er] use and behooffe of him the said John Anger and of his heires
21. and assignes absolutely forever of the Cheif Lord or Lord[es] of the Fee or Fees of whome the same benn holden by the rent[es] & services
22. therefore due and of right accustomed: And I the said John Lawrence and myne heires the said Tenement orchard and
23. thone half of the pond thereunto adioyninge w[i]th thapp[ur]ten[au]nc[es] unto the said John Anger his heires and assignes to the use and
24. behooffe aforesaid against me and myne heires shall and will warrant and forever defend by theis p[rese]nt[es]. In Witnesse
25. Whereof I the said John Lawrence have to this my p[res]ent wrightinge put my hand and seale Given the Fift day of June
26. In the Eleaventh yere of the Raigne of our Sov[er]aigne Lord Charles by the grace of God Kinge of England Scotland & Fraunce
