| ID LN002401_001 Audio from Mersea Museum Audio Visual Title | Bill Clarry interviewed by Dennis Chatters - 1 | Abstract | Bill was born 1883 and is probably the Island's oldest resident. Bill covers a lot of the island's history. He was present when the wheel tomb / pharos was uncovered in Yorick Road / Beach Road. He says "it is all covered up now".
His memories include the access to the beach dispute between the villagers and Mr Gilbert, owner of Orleans. Revd. Yorick Smythies took Mr Gilbert to court, but lost. However, as a result, Mr Gilbert gave Yorick Road and Beach Road to the people of the island. | Duration | 21 minutes | File name | Lions24Side1_001.mp3 | Volume | MMAV003\Lions5 | Recorded | July 1980 | ID | LN002401_001 | Updated | 2017-12-31 10:20:18 | AudioFile | MMAV003/Lions5/Audio/Lions24Side1_001.mp3
