TitleMemory Lane - Peggy Calver, teacher at West Mersea School
Abstract

Mrs Margaret (Peggy) Brunt née Calver passed away in Boston Butterfly Hospice on Saturday 11th February - her daughter's birthday. She was a teacher at West Mersea School during the war. Ron Green, David Mussett and Ben Mole were among her pupils. I don't know if anyone else remembers her. She met my uncle Bill Brunt, married in 1947 and moved to Colchester. If she had lived one more month she would have reached her 97th birthday. If she had lived till the end on April she would have celebrated her 70th wedding annivarsary to Bill. I thought she was indestructible. If anyone has any memories of her please let me know.

I, Ron Green, have found a number of her pupils who remember her with affection, especially the boys. I've spoken to Brian Jay, David Green, Johnny Milgate and my brother John and I'm sure there are many others. She was never my class teacher but I was a member of the Wolf Cub Pack which she and her colleague Vi Chantler took over when the male teacher who led us went off for military service. Bill Brunt was a Mersea man and they married at Messing, Peggy's home village. We would love to hear of any other memories of 'Miss Calver'.
