Title | Harold Blind. Winifred Hone memoirs |
Abstract | Harold Blind was a colourful character, who came to Mersea after the First World War.
He spent quite a time trying to improve his innonence [ enunciation ?] over an afflictive order, which he did
with great difficulty as he suffered an impediment in his speech. Later he married a charming lady who had suffered
the loss of her first husband, a well known solicitor, who had fallen to his death on the first night of their
wedding from a window at the Savoy Hotel. Harold Blind was always hard up, I being god's gift to the unfortunate it
was a natural sequence, however at a much later date he became the leader of the Mosley movement at Maldon, he offered
me a paid job of this movement on the Island, which meant I could run the Sailing and Social Club and at the same time
enrol members in my spare time. He promised me a black silk shirt, also a belt with a silver buckle. Naturally I
declined. In my case the belt wouldn't have given me something I haven't got, also I had been told in my youth
that I could create more fights than Helen of troy, and needed no suggestions from him to start another war.
