John saw no foxes on Mersea, no squirrels (red or grey).
There was an elite on the island that did not know the war was on. There were the 'rough' oystermen. Other families sat between these two extremes.
Watched the 1937 Coronation on television in the local electrical shop [ Kings ].

John Barton died August 2016.
