Some sources give WINCHESTER PRINCESS instead of WINCHESTER PROWESS.

27 July 1944 Torpedoed by E Boat off Dungeness. Stern 'shattered'. Beached. 4 crew killed, 3 missing, 12 passengers missing. Aft 50 ft cut off stern. Refloated. Passed Southend 18 Aug 1944. Beached Blyth Sands (Lower River Thames) 22 Aug 1944. Temporary repairs London. Passed Southend 4 Nov for Glasgow for repairs. At Brightlingsea awaiting tow to Glasgow. Sailed Brightlingsea 20 Apr 1945 in tow for Glasgow. Clyde Anchorage 26 Apr 1945. Repaired Glasgow. [Details from National Archives BT 389/32/122].
