I was on Manchester Crusade in the Blackwater. Had a great time, we were taken daily by launch ashore to spend the evening's in the Victory and Fountain public houses.
We were taken ashore daily or else we might have been entitled to a "captive time" payment. Having said this the shipping company were excellent and we were well looked after. It was also great for me as i hailed from Colchester so friends and family would visit the pub's almost daily to say hello..
Myself and a few mates used to jump from the bow of the ship, (44Feet) and then the tide would take us alongside until you grabbed the pilot ladder. Totally crazy, miss the ladder and you were gone. But i was only 18 and daft lol! Great memories of my time there.
