Career:Built as EMPIRE HIGHWAY. Renamed IONIC STAR-1946, NAPIER STAR-1946.
1960 had a boiler flashback and fire while loading at Auckland, causing considerable damage to cargo in No. 3 hold. She returned to England and after repairs was used by the French Government as a meat storage ship for 15 months.

Wrecked 34.55S/55.15W 20.7.65 & broken up Montevideo 16 Dec 1968.

(VRC has arrival London 9 Apr 1965 from Lyttelton and depart London 31 May 1965 for Teneriffe and Montevideo.)
