Shields Daily News 24 Nov 1936 reported:
the large C. & D. liner Port Hardy has now been brought round from Tollesbury and placed on the blocks of Swan and Hunter's No. 3 drydock. She has previously been idle at Tollesbury for about six months, which resulted in the under water portion of the hull plating becoming shell encrusted.

She is, however, urgently required for a new charter, and orders were issued this morning for her to be ready to vacate the dock with tonight's tide. After undocking, she is to be towed direct to the Commissioners coaling spouts to ship a large quantity of bunkers and stores in preparation for the new charter. [British Newspaper Archive]
