Career:Described in Essex Chronicle 8 May 1931 as the ship on which the first Canadian troops came over in the War, and on which the murderer Crippen was arrested. [ Most sources say Crippen was arrested on the MONTCALM and returned to England on the MEGANTIC. ]
Northern Whig & Belfast Post of 29 Sep 1930 reported that MEGANTIC is to be laid up in River Blackwater due to downturn in trade. She has been a popular trip on the service between the Thames and Canada.
MEGANTIC was leaving soon to prepare for a trip round the world.
