Career:Haven of Rest by Douglas Gurton reports that GORDON CASTLE arrived on Derby Day - newspaper articles of the time put this as 31 May 1922. Douglas describes "a small black steamer with 'woodbine' funnel." See DJG_SHP

Chelmsford Chronicle 11 Jan 1924 Body of James Wilson, 57, watchman on GORDON CASTLE was washed up on beach at West Mersea. With Ernest Rogers, also watchman on GORDON CASTLE, he had purchased a bottle of whiskey and gone down the railway line to Tollesbury Pier Station.

Liverpool Journal of Commerce reports:
7 June 1922 sailed Gravesend 7 June 1922 for River Blackwater [8 June 1922]
22 Jan 1923, 13 Aug 1923 GORDON CASTLE has been at River Blackwater since 9 June 1922
22 Aug 1924 sold to British scrappers to be broken up at once
5 Sept 1924 arrived Grays from Tollesbury
13 Sept 1924 beached alongside Ward's Jetty at Grays
