Built for the Steam Yacht VENETIA in 1905 by James Husk, Wivenhoe. The steam yacht was built by Ramage & Ferguson in Leith, but her first captain was a Wivenhoe man, Captain A. VENETIA's gig at Waterside Boatyard, Brightlingsea.
Built for the Steam Yacht VENETIA in 1905 by James Husk, Wivenhoe. The steam yacht was built by Ramage & Ferguson in Leith, but her first captain was a Wivenhoe man, Captain A. Harvey, who probably influenced the decision to have the gig built there. The gig was discarded in a refit 1921 and passed to the ownership of the St. Denys Sailing and Rowing Club, Southampton. For many years, she was in Exeter Maritime Museum [from River Colne Shipbuilders, page 180]. In 1996 she was acquired by David Starling who had her refitted by Jim Spencer Sailing Services of Brightlingsea.
2005 competed in the Great River Race. 2008 cared for as part of a private collection on the Thames.
