Bill had worked for a while in the bakery in Mill Road, West Mersea in the 1940s before taking on the Layer Breton bakery. Bill and Emily went to Australia on a working holiday in 1965 - but Bill bought the Helensburgh Bakery NSW and stayed. He ran it for many years. His daughter Jean had married Brian Chaplin from Layer they also moved to Australia in 1969. Bill died Bundaberg in Queensland 25 September 2022 aged 102.
