1 A field which became the site of the Queen Anne Road & Queen Anne Drive developments.
2 The old brickfield where many thousands of Clifford White's bricks and drainage pipes were produced. The clay was dug on site, churned in the pug mill (turned by a donkey) moulded and then fired, the last process carried out by Bill Gasson for many years until the site closed.
3 This building was originally built for the proposed Mersea Gasworks and later used as the body shop for Underwood's Garage.
4 The site of the old blacksmith's shop which was run at this time by Philip Underwood. The garages and buildings were demolished for the first Old Forge filling station, opened in 1966. The twin fronted bungalow (originally the Mersea Milk Bar) remained until the filling station was later re-developed.
5 Wissen Cottages, homes of the Pullen and Dowsing families, were demolished to make way for Eagle House.
6 The temporary school HORSA buildings that stood for 50 years from 1948!
7 The 'Tin Lizzie' shed that was used for domestic science and woodwork classes.
8 Whiting's shop and Ida & Doug South's house, both of which were knocked down as part of the Co-op Supermarket complex.
9 Tredgett Builder's Yard, later owned by Wilf Bacon, now comprise Style Design and the entrance to the Co-op car park
10 'Mye Timbers' was the home of Amy & Arthur Wellerd and was demolished for the Doctor's Surgery, with the Dental Surgery in the back garden.
