Widespread scenes of sympathy attended the funeral of Mr Douglas (Jim) Cutts, which took place on Saturday afternoon. Officials and members of the Fire Brigade and the AFS accompanied the cortege to the Methodist Church, where in addition to many relatives and friends many members of the Foresters' Club, the British Legion and the Home Guard had also assembled.
The services were taken by the Rev. Norman Knock, of Colchester, who paid fitting tribute to the deceased. At the graveside a guard of honour was formed by various services.
