Steam ploughing engine and plough. The young lad on the left is thought to be Ernest Polley, born 1896 and described in the 1911 Census as an Engine Driver's Assistant, cook boy. He was from Ardleigh.
The traction engine on the right is pulling the plough up the field - there will be a similar engine off to the left to pull the plough back down.
