 Elsie Ponder née Brown, daughter of Mersea's Police Sergeant Brown, outside the end cottage of a terrace of four called Rose Cottages, Mersea Road, Peldon, not far from The Peldon Rose. She moved there in 1921 upon marriage to Charles Bertram Ponder, (known as Bert). They were to have one child, Jean.

This end cottage was eventually in very poor condition and was demolished.
