SAUNTERER was built 1900 by C. Sibbick & Co., Cowes, Official No. 111368. At this time she was owned by Thomas Belt, who was the proprietor of a rope and canvas business in Bigg Market, Newcastle. She had previously been owned by Captain B.W.G. Oates of Antarctic fame. Ernest Stephen Appleton was the paid hand on the SAUNTERER for many years.
Thomas Belt sold SAUNTERER in 1944.
