Painting of Steam Yacht ANGLIA by L. Papaluca. Isaac Rice [2] of Tollesbury was master of ANGLIA in 1935. ANGLIA Official No. 135683, built Hepple & Co., South Shields, 1913. Ex SCOTIA, ex BERYL, ex-EAGLE-1926, ADVENTURESS.
EAGLE was owned by Vanderbilt. Roddie MacPherson wrote by email Oct 2012 that his grandfather John MacPherson, at the age of 69, captained her back from the US when she had been bought by Lord Inverclyde.
The last recording of the ship was in 1963, her owners then A.& M. Diamantis and her name POLYCHRONIS.
June 2011 Leo Whisstock commented: This was a steam yacht owned by Lord Inverclyde and was purchased by the Admiralty in September 1939 as an Armed Boarding Vessel and served most of its time in Gibraltar on Contaband Control duties. My father served as Boarding Officer on her for a time. She was sold in 1946.
There is a more detailed history with a similar painting of her as BERYL on www.scribd.com/doc/19477628/Lord-Inverclydes-Yachts.
