The frontage of Victoria Esplanade is groyned. Plates 6 and 7 show the easternmost and westernmost groynes respectively. Comparing the two photographs shows that erosion is worst at the eastern end of the frontage.

The frontage of Victoria Esplanade is groyned. Plates 6 and 7 show the easternmost and westernmost groynes respectively. Comparing the two photographs shows that erosion is worst at the eastern end of the frontage.
Plate 7 shows the tendency for down-drift erosion west of the groyne system, but beyond that the beach accretes to form another ness in the vicinityh of Shears Court.
