TINTARA was interned at Remagen on the Rhine during WW1. She was crewed by the Norton family from Brightlingsea. The older Norton was repatriated to Brightlingsea during the War. Fred Norton of 123 New Street, Brightlingsea is listed as a Prisoner of War at Ruhleben, west Berlin. [Born 1 Dec 1882 at Brightlingsea.]
Ambrose Norton was listed in The Times of January 8th 1916 ("Released Civilians" p.5, colD) as one of 69 men released from Ruhleben on Thursday, January 6th, 1916, who subsequently travelled to Flushing for their return trip to England. [ http://ruhleben.tripod.com/id10.html ]
