The Vicarage, opposite the turn to Church Lane, was demolished 1927 by Clifford White, who built the new rectory on the same site. This later house, no longer a rectory, is now called Glebe House. Cleghorn Postcard sent 12 August 1905 to Mrs Harvey C/O Mrs E. Harvey, Heathcote, Wivenhoe. The text says "Do you recognise anyone on the back view... Love to the children, from R. King". The schoolmistress at East Mersea was Alice Mary Harvey née Pullen who had married William Harvey from Wivenhoe.
