Abstract

A history of Birch School written for it Centenary. The author, Tom Millatt, was a teacher at the school at the time. He taught at the school before the war, and returned after the war. He became Headmaster in 1948.

Page 21 mentions 4 brick air raid shelters being built in the playgrounds. But those of us that lived there in the 1950s can only remember the two at the north end of the playground - which were eventually demolished 2012.
